THE EXPANSE: A TELLTALE SERIES FAQ

The Story

It follows the show, you get to experience Camina Drummer’s life (with Cara Gee reprising her role from the show) – and it all takes place before the events in season one.
It was humbling and fantastic to work with the series creators. We shared our initial plot and they not only gave great direction, their suggestions found their way into the final game. It also gave us the chance to flesh out parts of the canon that hadn’t been approached before.
No. In fact, we wanted to make something that was the perfect on-ramp for anyone unfamiliar with The Expanse. The nice thing about this taking place prior to the events in season one of the show is that you can start fresh, but you’ll obviously get even more out of the game if you’ve seen the Amazon Prime series.
Yes, bosmang. Nothing more we can say beyond that at this time. You’ve gotta play to find out!

The Game Episodes

Our new games are episodic, but there’s one huge difference: We’ve changed how we’re developing games on the back end so we can release seasons much quicker than in the past. We can guarantee that the remaining episodes will launch every two weeks after Episode One launches on July 27th.
Think of it like your favorite show. You watch an episode, you talk about it with your friends and wonder what’ll happen next. Then, a week-or-so later, the next episode is there. That is what we want to tap into with our games. Having a much shorter wait between episodes (two weeks) makes that possible.
No, we’re keeping it simple. While we are releasing the season in episode form (bi-weekly, starting July 27th!), we are only selling the whole season together. The only options are Standard Edition or a Deluxe Edition that comes with an additional DLC episode that we will reveal more about at a later date.

The New Gameplay

It’s an evolution of what we’ve done in the past. To convey the vastness of space — and it really is such a huge component of the show — we factor in things like gravity. Floating in zero-g, walking on walls and new ways to navigate open up exploration unlike old games.
We now design the entire season up front, so we are mapping out the story and creating different paths throughout. It’s not just the conversation choices you make, it’s the things you discover while exploring the episodes that uncover different paths.

Let’s put it this way: By the end of Season 1, everyone except one person could live…or…everyone but one person could die. It all depends on how you play.
